When "Glove Rat" Cannot Protect the Vulnerable Rat

We hope this video will help people who want to introduce rats to rats learn some of the Glove Rat technique, and develop confidence to rescue a vulnerable rat at any time. It's so important to know when a session isn't going well, and to prevent escalating aggression.

This is Gwen's first experience of an introduction session using the "glove rat" technique. In this session she needs to protect three rats who are not established cagemates, and she discovers she has Double Trouble. While Karen believed, from her previous work with them, that none of these rats would seriously injure each other, Gwen believes the worst is possible. In fact, Gwen is quite frightened at her inability to protect Jerry. In Gwen's mind this very brief session goes on forever and is filled with stubborn, powerful women rats with a clear agenda, spunk, and drive.

Background: Jerry, a neutered male, is about two years old. In this session, he is being re-introduced to 18-month old Ms. Eme, and meeting Chaaya, Eme's 10-month old daughter, for the first time. During prior introductions, Ms. Eme was relentless in her quest to bother Jerry. Chaaya takes after her Mom!

In this video we see Ms. Eme and Chaaya follow Jerry closely every second. Gwen is unable to keep the two ladies away from Jerry with only one gloved hand. As Jerry works very hard to evade them, Gwen works equally hard to protect him. The ladies take turns driving at Jerry, and even double-team him. They power groom the back of his neck, sniff his private parts, check his mouth, and climb onto him and over him. They forcefully follow his every move, so that Jerry gets no rest. Despite Gwen's ultimately being unable to calm down the girls, she effectively uses "Glove rat" so that Jerry is able to remain calm. He never loses his patience or retaliates, which is an important goal in the Glove Rat technique.
Who knew that when subjected to special audio-translation optimization software, boggles would be heard to make sounds! My favorite is - morse code!!! Now we just need a translator. Chancy (Chance-ee) is a boggle girl and she likes to show off. Please enjoy her.
