Many months later I'm editing this to say: WEAR GLOVES. I stupidly did not in this video, and over the following months was bitten very badly when I didn't. Having had Dicey and Pemy for only one week, I had not yet learned how they could whip out like a snake to nail me. In his video they present as fearful: Staying quietly in a corner, unable to show interest in yummy food. Pemy even declines the food when the long-handled spoon is nearby.
WEAR GLOVES and use a long-handled spoon with aggressive rats.
Until I took them, they lived at a rescue's house, where they were considered unadoptable, and where they had a forever home. They were born at the rescue's house, but as they grew they became less sociable and began to demonstrating biting behaviors. I adopted them when they were 12 months old, spayed, and with a history of unexpected biting.
