Here is a demonstration of taking a small pill, hiding it in a small amount of food and pilling a cat.

Snoop, my 18 year old cat, sits on my lap. In the beginning I had to hold him close to me.
Now he is so accustomed to being pilled that he sits quietly without restraint.
I gently put a finger in one side of Snoop's mouth.
When he opens his mouth I take my finger with the medicine food using my other hand
and then put the food in the side towards the back of his mouth.
It feels like I wipe off the food from my finger in his mouth.
I wait while he eats the food.
This was a smooth demonstration except I usually get the food a bit farther into the back of his mouth.
Sometimes I have to hold his mouth closed for a minute.
If I have the right amount of food and place the food in the right spot then Snoop swallows right away.
Snoop gets 1/2 pill of Methimazole 5 mg to regulate his thyroid condition and we have been doing this twice a day for five years.
Many times I can hold a food / medicine meatball in the palm of my hand and he eats the food like a treat.
